Three Used Toyota Models You Need to Test Drive Now

The world of used cars is plentiful and overwhelming, but we are here to help you break down your options. Here at Colonial Toyota, your Pennsylvania used Toyota dealer, we love to tell people about how much of a good investment a used Toyota can be. The diversity of the Toyota brand is plentiful, with everything from trucks and SUVs to cars and eco-friendly models that are sure to save fuel and help the environment. However, there are definitely some models we think you might want to give a test drive while you are looking for your next used car.
The Toyota RAV4
Small SUVs are desirable for two main reasons. They offer more space than a car, and they’re safer to drive in adverse weather. Taking it a step further, a third reason that people like these models is that they’re also nice to venture off-road in. While the third reason isn’t as necessary, it is fun. If you’re looking for a Toyota model that fits these criteria, then the RAV4 is the model for you. Let’s take a closer look at a few different RAV4 models.
First, let’s look at the 2014 model. This one is available in three different trims, both front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, and an additional EV trim option. The front-wheel drive models with a 4-cylinder engine can get up to 30 miles per gallon on the highway, while the all-wheel drive models get up to 28 miles per gallon highway. However, the EV model really blows things out of the water, reaching up to 78 miles per gallon in the city. These models come with heated seats, Bluetooth connectivity, and up to 73 cubic feet of cargo space. It’s safe to say that fuel efficiency and space are plentiful on this model.
Newer used Toyota RAV4 models like the 2019 model up the game even further with a new and improved body style. It’s much more visually appealing, with a squarer body and a more durable off-roading appeal. The 2019 RAV4 comes in an Adventure trim which is even more suitable for off-roading. All 2019 RAV4 models come with a terrain management system, but the Adventure trim has a ground clearance of 8.1 inches, meaning you won’t have to worry about scraping rocks or logs when heading out on the trail. Overall, the Toyota RAV4 is a favorite used Toyota model because of its diversity and compact exterior yet spacious interior.

The Toyota Corolla
If you’re interested in getting a commuter car, we highly recommend the Toyota Corolla. The 2012 Corolla is definitely one to consider because it’s affordable, fuel-efficient, and very safe despite its age. It can get up to 34 miles per gallon on the highway, and it comes with Smart Stop braking, vehicle stability control with traction control, side-impact door beams, airbags, child locks, and a child restraint system with LATCH anchors. Even the base model comes with power door locks and power one-touch down windows. You’ll even get an engine immobilizer, meaning you won’t have to worry about anyone hotwiring your car. This is a great affordable used Toyota model, especially if you’re looking for a simple work vehicle.
A newer used Toyota Corolla is ideal if you want those fun, modern tech features. For driver assist safety features and entertainment assets, the 2017 used Toyota Corolla is ideal. It comes in 9 different trims, but the highest trim offers Bluetooth wireless phone connectivity, SiriusXM radio access, heated bucket seats, cruise control with steering wheel controls and distance pacing, automatic air conditioning, and much more. As far as driver assist features go, the 2017 Corolla offers a pre-collision system, low tire pressure warning, a backup camera, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and an airbag occupancy sensor. To top it all off, it has a 5-star overall crash test safety rating. Plus, this model gets even better mileage than the 2012 model, landing at up to 42 miles per gallon on the highway.
The Toyota Tacoma
Truck drivers everywhere can benefit from the Toyota Tacoma’s diversity. This model can be used as a small work truck, or as a casual, fuel-efficient truck for those who don’t need the extra power. The 2014 Tacoma comes with either a 4-cylinder engine or a V6, and you can get it in manual or automatic, two-wheel drive or four-wheel drive. Further, you can also choose between a short bed, regular bed, or long bed, a regular cab, an access cab, or a double cab. Lastly, the 2014 Tacoma can tow up to 6,400 pounds, making it ideal for towing small items. This model is great if you’re looking for a used truck that’s more on the affordable side.
The 2019 Toyota Tacoma is one of our favorite newer used Toyota models. Like the 2014 version, you can get it with either 4-cylinder or a V6 engine. It gets better mileage than you’d expect, with the 4-cylinder getting up to 23 miles per gallon on the highway and the V6 getting up to 24 miles per gallon highway. Despite its good mileage, the V6 2019 Tacoma can pump out 278 horsepower and 265 lb-ft of torque. If you don’t need quite that much power, the 4-cylinder engine produces 159 horsepower with 180 lb-ft of torque. The perk to this truck is that it comes with better interior features such as anti-whiplash head restraints, a day/night rearview mirror, cruise control with distance pacing, remote keyless entry, and Entune’s selective internet access, which means you get an LTE Wi-Fi hotspot in your truck.

Why Choose Toyota?
There are many vehicle brands out there, so it can be difficult to narrow it down to one, but Toyota has a lot of perks that make it a top contender. First off, resale value is important when thinking long-term. That means that when you go to sell your Toyota model in the future, you’re going to get a lot more out of it than you would with its competitors. This is largely due to the brand’s durability. It’s safe to say that with proper maintenance, your Toyota model should last you for years to come. As a brand, Toyota is more concerned with creating longevity than in milking costs for repairs. They’re a company that truly cares about its customers: the fewer breakdowns, the better in Toyota’s book.
Toyota is also a very safe brand. Moreover, Toyota is a diverse brand. While many companies focus solely on one model type, you can purchase about any type of vehicle from Toyota. Whether you like trucks, SUVs, hybrids, sedans, or hatchbacks, there’s a Toyota model out there waiting for you. So, if a durable and reliable vehicle that is going to also be comfortable and stylish is something you want, then you need to look at a used Toyota.
