Toyota Brand Overview

Established in the fall of 1937, Toyota is one of the most recognizable foreign car companies in the world. With headquarters in Tokyo City, Japan, the world-renowned automaker produces lightweight, sensible vehicles for every market. Toyota is so popular that its North American sales have even surpassed sales in Japan.

Due to its high rate of success in the United States, Toyota opened a North American headquarters in Plano, TX, and a manufacturing and production engineering facility in Georgetown, KY. With assembly plants spread throughout the southern states, many Toyota vehicles are built right here in the U.S.

If you love the recent hybrid trend transforming the automotive industry, thank Toyota! With its creation of the Toyota Prius in 1997, the company spearheaded the mass-production of hybrid vehicles. Toyota engineers were way ahead of the game, and the first to make “green” cars cool. Toyota has unveiled its newest hybrid model as part of the 2020 redesign of the Corolla. Now, drivers can enjoy the popular sedan as a hybrid. Other models that have become hybrids include the RAV4, Camry, and the Highlander.

Toyota Brand Dependability and Quality

Toyota is known not only for its environmentally friendly vehicles but also for high quality, dependable models. Take, for example, the success of the Toyota Tacoma. First produced in 1995, the U.S. manufactured Tacoma is one of the most consistently popular Toyota models. Known for its reliability and solid build, the sturdy, compact pickup truck is both dependable and affordable. These petite pickups have a reputation for being solid-performing work trucks. That’s why people love them.

If you have any issues with your new vehicle, Colonial Toyota has a team of highly trained technicians certified to work on all Toyota models. From routine maintenance such as oil changes, air filters, and battery replacements, to major repairs and bodywork, our staff will treat your vehicle with the specialized care Colonial Toyota customers have come to expect. We offer express maintenance services to get your vehicle up-to-snuff in a timely manner. We also have an on-site tire shop for all of your tire care needs. For major bodywork and repairs, the Colonial Collision Center will take care of you. We understand that accidents happen, and our dedicated team of experts will get you back on the road as quickly as possible without compromising the quality of your Toyota vehicle. We also offer top-quality OEM parts to keep your car running smoothly.

Toyota Models

For families in search of the perfect SUV, Toyota has several models to meet your needs. Our current favorites include the 4Runner, Sequoia, Land Cruiser, RAV4, and the Highlander. As of 2020, the RAV4 and Highlander are also available as hybrid models, which means fewer trips to the gas station and spending less money on fuel. The RAV4 is a great, sporty crossover vehicle for smaller families who enjoy occasional trips to the country and comes available in numerous trims, including hybrid models. If a rugged outdoor experience is more your style, check out the TRD Off-Road version, enhanced for expert handling on rough terrain.

On many current models, you'll find Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 with the Star Safety System: a combined radar and camera system designed to reduce collisions and keep your family safe on the roads. Advanced features in this package include road sign assist, lane tracing assist, pre-collision system, pedestrian detection, radar cruise control, lane-departure alert, steering assist, road edge detection, and automatic high beams. Most Toyota SUVs and their other models come equipped with many of these safety features.

On the other end of the spectrum, the Land Cruiser is the crème de la crème of Toyota models. Available in only a few trims, the Land Cruiser was perfected over the last 70 years, with features informed by adventure-seeking drivers all over the world. The Land Cruiser comes outfitted with multi-terrain select and crawl control for better performance in sand, mud, and other challenging landscapes. If you want a vehicle that can go just about anywhere, the Land Cruiser is for you.

If you’re looking for power without all the extra seating, a Toyota truck could be your perfect fit. There are only two models to choose from because Toyota discovered it’s hard to improve on perfection. As stated above, the Tacoma is a sturdy, compact truck ready to take on the world. Depending on your choice of body style, the Tacoma can seat two to four people (the Double Cab seats five), but don’t let its modest size fool you!

This petite beast is proof that powerful things can come in small packages. The TRD Pro model comes outfitted with superior off-roading features for optimal outdoor performance, and can even be fitted with a snorkel, enabling it to cross rivers without flooding the engine.

If you won’t settle for anything but the full-size truck experience, look no further than the Tacoma’s big brother, the Toyota Tundra. The mighty Tundra is ideal for today’s modern equestrian or for those wanting to take their boat to the lake on weekends.

Car class is yet another area where Toyota shines. With plenty of models to choose from, you can opt for a coupe, sedan, or hatchback. Popular models include the Yaris, Corolla, Camry, Prius, and GR Supra. The Corolla, Camry, and Avalon are available as hybrids, and the Yaris and Corolla are available as hatchbacks.

Let’s not forget about the minivan. As a passenger vehicle, the Sienna is as close to perfect as it gets. Models can be configured to comfortably seat up to eight passengers, with plenty of rear space for storing backpacks, sports equipment, luggage, or groceries. Loaded with state-of-the-art safety features, you can rely on this caravan style model in more ways than one.

The 2020 Toyota SUVs

This is one of the most exciting model years for Toyota SUVs and crossovers in a long time. With several hybrid options, the always popular RAV4, and the sparkling new C-HR, there is something for every budget, for every taste, and for every need right here at Colonial Toyota. It doesn't matter if you've been wanting a fuel-efficient SUV, want something with the handling of a car but the safety of a larger SUV, or you want sheer power, torque, and the ability to tow, welcome to 2020 because Toyota has everything you might want and then some. Here's just a small dab of insights on all the latest 2020 Toyota model SUVs.

A blue 2020 Toyota C-HR is driving out of a tunnel.

Looking to grow your Toyota Camry up into a crossover? Look no further than the Toyota 2020 C-HR. The eccentric design is as beautiful as it is fun. And with a starting MSRP of $21,295, it's affordable as well.

The crossover comes with a four-door design, although with the placement of the handle, it takes on the appearance of a two-door sports crossover coupe. It also features a hatchback-like rear end, making it easier than ever before to toss gear into your cargo area. All this plus an estimated fuel economy of 27 miles per gallon in the city and 31 on the highway makes it an extremely fuel-efficient crossover.

The C-HR does come with three trim options, with the base LE, the XLE, and the Limited. Each of these trims also offer several customizable features, so you can truly make the Toyota C-HR your own.

RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid

Three 2020 Toyota RAV4s, which are popular among Toyota models, are driving down a multi-lane city street.

When you want a bit of muscle and the ability to take your crossover off-roading without the need for sheer size and bulk, the RAV4 is perfect. Available as both a traditional and a hybrid model, the RAV4 is packed with all kinds of features and customizable options.

The RAV4 is estimated to offer up to 28 miles per gallon in the city and 35 miles per gallon on the highway, proving SUVs can be just as fuel-efficient as other models out there.

The base Toyota RAV4 is the LE, although it's tough to call it a "base," as it comes with a 7-inch touchscreen, integrated backup camera, and all other kinds of goodies. The XLE is the next step up. Coming with a more powerful speaker system and an 8-inch touchscreen, plus a number of added safety features, there's much to love with this step up.

Next, you'll find the XLE Premium, the Adventure package, which gives you several features you'll love if you love attending sports tailgates (or if you just want to be prepared for everything), and then there is the TRD Off-Road. This comes with an upgraded suspension, 18-inch flow-formed alloy wheels, and a power moonroof.

Lastly, you'll find the XSE Hybrid and the Limited, which upgrades just about everything you'll find on the RAV4.

A blue 2020 Toyota Highlander is parked next to brick buildings.

In need of an SUV, that's large enough to fit the family while offering superior cargo space? The 2020 Highlander has all of that and so much more. Plus, you'll be hard-pressed to find any other 8-seater SUV on the road today that can muster out up to 29 miles per gallon on the highway (there will be a 2020 Hybrid model available, although Toyota has not officially released these models, so sit tight, they will be available later in the year).

The base package is the L, which gives you Toyota Safety Sense, which is designed to help keep you and everyone inside safe whenever in transit. Plus, with five USB ports, there is always a power source available, for you and everyone else in the SUV.

The LE adds several features onto the L, including blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert, two features of which make your drive that much safer. The XLE comes with standard wireless charging. So if your phone is compatible, you can kiss those charging cables goodbye. Plus, the 7-inch LED multi-information display ensures you always have the information you need.

The Limited trim takes your audio listening experience up a notch with the JBL w/Clara-Fi, 11-speaker system. Finally, there is the Platinum, which provides you with a best-in-class 12.3-inch touchscreen display.

A white 2020 Toyota 4Runner is off-roading on a trail.

The legendary 4Runner has been going strong since the mid-1980s, and nothing is slowing it down. With ample interior space and with an exterior design to handle just about anything the road throws at you, this is the SUV you've been looking for.

The base SR5 trim comes with a 4.0L V6 (all of the trims come with this standard engine capable of churning out 270 horsepower). Brand new with the 2020 edition is an 8-inch touchscreen featuring Amazon Alexa, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay in every model sold.

Like all models of the 4Runner used the same engine, most of the differences can be found in the interior. The SR5 is the entry-level trim package, while the SR5 Premium comes with several slight enhancements, wheel upgrades, and comfort features. The TRD Off-Road trim is what you need to go for if you've been eyeballing some of the local trails. With improved suspension, shocks, and a cargo rack on top for your gear, you'll have all your bases covered with this package.

Of course, if you want to take your Off-Roading to the next level, the TRD Off-Road Premium trim offers some improved tweaks along the way (not to mention a number of paint options and audio improvements).

From here, you can opt for the Venture Special Edition, the Limited, or the Nightshade Edition. The Nightshade provides you with an all-gray look for your SUV. It continues this look with black interior accents.

The top package is the TRD Pro, which includes FOX shocks, dual-zone automatic climate control, LED fog lights, plus several other top-of-the-line design features.

A white 2020 Toyota Sequoia is towing a boat.

When you want an SUV that's large and in charge, the Sequoia is that in spades. Featuring a 5.7L V8 engine and a 6-speed automatic transmission, this is the SUV for road trips, large families, and just what you want all the extra space inside your SUV. And with five trims, you can select the design that best fits your needs.

The SR5 is the base trim featuring a power tilt and slide moonroof plus seating for eight. The TRD Sport is the next trim up offering 20-inch wheels, a gloss-black grille, and chrome accents. The Limited trim brings several additional comfort features, such as a power liftgate, an available JBL sound system, and heated front seats.

The Platinum edition offers additional safety features, an adaptive variable suspension, and a Premium JBL sound system. You'll really appreciate the rear-seat Blu-ray player with wireless headphones, so your kids can enjoy their shows, leaving you in peace to finally catch up on your favorite podcast or audiobook. Lastly, there is the TRD Pro, which features the upgraded FOX shocks, LED fog lights and an available black cat-back exhaust.

Land Cruiser

A black 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser, which is a recent Toyota model remake, is off-roading on a dusty trail.

When you want the utmost in Toyota luxury you'll want the 2020 Land Cruiser. Using the 5.7L V8 engine it also comes with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The classic Land Cruiser comes in two trim options. There is the standard Land Cruiser, which features an upgraded premium audio system, Kinetic Dynamic Suspension, and 8-passenger seating.

The Heritage Edition gives you several classic touches from years gone by, including 18-inch bronze alloy wheels. Of course, it also has new-age tech, such as a 9-inch touchscreen with split-screen display features, a CD player, and 14 JBL speakers.

Toyota Trucks

Toyota trucks carry a sterling reputation for their tremendous build quality and reliability. They are also known for their longevity and resale value, making them the perfect choice for you and your family. With many different styles and models to choose from, there is an option for any use, whether you are an off-road enthusiast or in need of a family-oriented daily driver. All Toyota models are known for their exceptional engineering, and this is no different for Toyota's lineup of trucks. If you are looking to make a smart purchase, based on popularity and high-reliability scores, Toyota trucks are an excellent investment, as they are one of the best values on the market.

With Toyota pickup trucks, you will find impressive cargo capacity and admirable hauling capacity, as well as Toyota's off-road packages to take you far off the road. You will find spacious cabins, manual and automatic transmissions, 4-cylinder engines, a 3.5-liter V6 or a 5.7-liter V8, and many different styles with many different capabilities. There is something for everyone, so let's take a look at what models are offered for the 2020 model year. With options for every need and desire, we thought this would be a good opportunity to talk about one of the most impressive lineups of trucks on the road.

Tacoma SR

If you are looking for a budget-friendly midsize pickup truck with a bulletproof engine and incredible resale value, this is a good place to find yourself. The starting MSRP for the Tacoma SR is only $26,050. Available in access and double cab configurations, the SR also features a 7-inch Toyota Entune 3.0 touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and Wi-Fi Connect. Not bad for the lowest trim level. Toyota Safety Sense is also standard so that you will have the latest in Toyota's safety tech, as well as a rearview camera and automatic limited-slip differential, among other standard features.

Tacoma SR5

Building on the SR foundation, the SR5 adds even more value, with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, keyless entry, and an 8-inch touchscreen. And starting at just under $28,000, this is an incredibly priced truck for so much modern convenience and real-world utility.

Tacoma TRD Sport

The TRD Sport model, coming in at a starting MSRP of $32,745, features upgraded performance and style with 17-inch wheels, an advanced Entune system with Dynamic Navigation, a wireless charging system, and Toyota Smart Key. There's also a panoramic view monitor available on the Double Cab models.

Tacoma TRD Off-Road

A popular Toyota model, a gray 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road is rock climbing and covered in dirt.

While all Tacoma models are capable of off-road adventures, this model truly shines on the trail. The Tacoma TRD Off-Road is made for taking far off the beaten path and outfitted with the latest Toyota off-road tech: Bilstein shocks, a locking rear differential, 4WDemand four-wheel drive, CRAWL Control, and a Multi-Terrain Select System. With a $34,000 starting MSRP, you will be ready to hit the trail without breaking the budget.

Tacoma Limited

A silver 2020 Toyota Tacoma Limited is parked in the desert.

This is a model built with one thing in mind: luxury. And while the Limited model adds plenty of luxury to your Tacoma, it also brings serious value. Starting at an MSRP of $38,790 is well worth it for the significant upgrades. We're talking about a leather interior, a JBL premium sound system, a Panoramic View Monitor, and a power moonroof. This is the kind of luxury you could get used to on your commute to work. In addition to Toyota Safety Sense, blind-spot monitoring with rear cross-traffic alerts is also included for further peace of mind on your drive to work.

Tacoma TRD Pro

A white 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro with a snorkel exhaust is off-roading outside Indiana, PA.

The top-level model TRD Pro delivers the complete package and has a starting MSRP of $43,960. The TRD Pro is made for people who traverse boulders and live adventurously, and it is made, like all Tacoma's, for people who want a truck with 20 years and 300,000 miles of dependability. All TRD Pro's are double cab four-door, four-wheel-drive short-bed models, and feature a plethora of serious off-road delights: a TRD Pro desert air intake, for one, that keeps fresh air flowing to the engine when driving through sand and mud and dust. A TRD Pro skid plate, of course, and a TRD Pro cat-back exhaust system and FOX 2.5 Internal Bypass Shocks. Additional on- and off-road features include a Multi-Terrain Monitor, TRD Pro floor mats, heated front seats, black TRD Pro leather interior, and a TRD Pro shifter.

You don't often hear of a truck so valuable that it has been known to sell about sticker price, but this is one of them. This truck is extremely reputable, and the 2020 model keeps that tradition alive.

Tundra SR

If you're looking for a workhorse with great value and an impressive list of standard features, the entry-level SR trim for the Tundra is a great option and starts as low as $33,575. Here you'll find a double cab with 18-inch wheels and Toyota Safety Sense for peace of mind when your truck must tackle carpool duties. Four-wheel drive is also an option at this trim level, and you can choose between a 6.5 or 8.1-foot bed. You'll also find Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, a rearview camera, and an easy-lower tailgate. A 7-inch touchscreen that works with Amazon Alexa and Bluetooth is also standard equipment for the Tundra. All of this and a big 5.7-liter V8 that turns 381 hp and 401 lb-ft of torque and can tow up to 10,200 pounds. It sounds like everything you could possibly need.

Tundra SR5

Moving up to the SR5 model, which has a starting MSRP of $35,245, brings the option of a double cab or crew cab, if you need more space, and an optional short bed. You can choose between 18- or 20-inch wheels and all-season or all-terrain tires. Also available are skid plates for the engine and gas tank, and a 38-gallon tank, if you need the additional range. This is truly a truck you can customize to your lifestyle. You'll also find a rear under-seat storage compartment for added convenience and an upgraded audio system.

From the SR5 trim and up, there is also an option to add the TRD Off-Road Package. This adds trail-tuned shocks, upgraded alloy wheels, and the skid plates. There is also a Sport package, which adds 20" wheels, upgraded shocks, and other athletic touches.

Tundra Limited

A blue Toyota Model, a 2020 Tundra Limited is parked in front of a forest.

With the Limited trim, you'll find luxury everywhere: heated, leather-trimmed seats, automatic climate control, navigation, and 20-inch wheels. Push-button start and Toyota's Smart Key system are also standard, as is a 38-gallon fuel tank. Fog lights and headlights are upgraded to LED lights. The innovative deck rail system with four adjustable tie-down cleats is also standard. Even better, all of this luxury comes at a reasonably low MSRP of $42,270.

Tundra Platinum

Tundra 1794

A black 2020 Toyota Tundra 1794 is parked in the woods.

The 1794 trim comes with a crew cab and a 5.5-foot bed and is an alteration of the Platinum trim. When you see the wood-grain accents and a 1794 Edition badge on the front doors, you'll know you're in a 1794 model. Saddle brown leather further separates this trim from other models, as its focus is meant to be on a western aesthetic, and it certainly delivers with the ruggedness of western lore and refined manners of a luxury truck. This unique model starts at the same MSRP as the Platinum, $48,775.

Tundra TRD Pro

A mud-covered green 2020 Toyota Tundra TRD Pro is parked on a dirt trail.

If you want to tackle challenging off-road conditions such as steep track roads, fast-moving rills and creeks, and generally rough conditions, this is the model for you. You'll find the upgraded suspension a bonus off-road, as well as the larger shocks. A front skid plate is standard, as well as higher minimum ground clearance. JBL audio and navigation are added for good measure, and a specialized TRD dual black-chrome tipped stainless steel exhaust system is also included with this trim level.
